The new memoir "A Big Easy Childhood" by New Orleans art dealer Guy Lyman was the bestselling book in the city over the holidays, according to Monkey Hill Publishing, which published the book in the fall of 2014.
The publishing house issued this comment: "We are really pleased that a book so laser-focused on growing up in this particular city could achieve this sort of sales, versus more general bestsellers."
"A Big Easy Childhood" documents the quirky aspects of growing up in New Orleans that have not been covered in books that describe the more common aspects of Mardi Gras, New Orleans cuisine, music, and other familiar subjects.
The book is available for under $10 at Fleurty Girl, Octavia Books, Maple Street Books, Garden District Book Shop, Amazon.com and other outlets.
