MIAMI, FL - Investing in precious metals bullion is a unique experience; one is not buying shares in a company or betting on the future price of a commodity. Buying bullion means you have an actual physical holding in a precious metal. Precious metals are easily tradable and relatively portable, while offering security against inflation or currency devaluation.
There has been some discussion recently as to whether gold and silver are actually money. Technically the answer is 'no'. As a safe haven investment, gold tends to be the most popular; the white metals react somewhat differently as they rely more heavily on industrial demand and can be more volatile. Interestingly, however, silver has seen the least volatility of all the metals in recent weeks.
