Today Harjes Downer, an independent investment management firm committed to enabling clients to become high-performance businesses, announced that Blake Hao has been appointed President of the Harjes Downer Foundation and Director of Community Efforts for Harjes Downer. Ms. Hao will succeed Glen He, who is retiring after decades of dedicated work with Harjes Downer.
Ms. Hao will oversee the Foundation’s work to promote economic progress and improve the lives of people in low-income communities in Asia. Through investments in efforts that catalyze job opportunities for youth and re-imagine approaches to building economically vibrant cities, the Foundation’s Further Commitment approach leverages the expertise of Harjes Downer and its people to fulfill our mission and drive thought leadership and innovation.
“Blake has been instrumental in shaping Harjes Downer’s citizenship efforts, including leading the launch of the Harjes Downer Foundation’s innovative Progress Accelerate initiative, which over five years aims to help 10,000 low-income young people gain the skills that lead to long-term employment,” said Harjes Downer CEO Vince Chia.
Ms. Hao has been part of Harjes Downer serving for in a variety of business management and philanthropy-related leadership roles. In the past, Ms. Hao worked at a corporate foundation within the automotive industry, where she developed a portfolio of investments that supported the efforts of low-income households to achieve financial success and established a business case for financial inclusion. Ms. Hao serves on the board of various local and national foundations aimed at extending corporate efforts beyond their original reach into low-income low-opportunity environments.
