Event At Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute To Discuss Implementing Lean Systems In Healthcare

Preventing medical mistakes, improving quality outcomes and enhancing the patient experience - while controlling costs - are all achievable outcomes of a successful lean system. In this seminar, industry leaders will discuss how the application of lean operating principles are transforming the healthcare industry.
Five keynote speakers will discuss how America's flagship health systems are changing at "Healthcare Goes Lean" on Friday, October 1 at Atlanta's Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute. Hosted by Select International, the event will outline how healthcare organizations can significantly improve quality of services and the overall patient experience by applying the proven hiring and lean operating principles used in other industries.

Two senior leaders from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center will speak about laying the groundwork for lean transformation in healthcare facilities. Lisa Zankman, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, and Alice Lee, Vice President, Business Transformation, will answer the questions of why an organization should move to lean, what to expect and how to position lean internally.

Representing the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute, Medical Director Dr. Dick Mitchell and Lean Project Manager Kelley Hundt will discuss the fundamental principles of lean assessments, value stream maps, quality systems and rapid process improvement projects that they apply to their healthcare partners.

Kevin Klinvex, co-founder of Select International and co-author of the business bestseller, Hiring Great People, rounds out the panel. He will talk about the transformation of hiring in healthcare and will review new competency models, testing inventories, and interview questions that support lean operations.

"Healthcare organizations experience many of the same challenges," said Klinvex. "Applying hiring and lean operating principles is helping the healthcare industry by preventing medical mistakes and improving quality outcomes, while also controlling costs."

The event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon, and the cost is $50 per organization, up to 4 attendees. Registration is required. Register by September 24 at www.selectinternational.com/atlanta or by contacting T.J. Muehlfeld at tjmuehlfeld@selectintl.com or 1-800-786-8595, ext. 1031.
