Fireplace Embers Caused Deadly Connecticut Fire |

The Christmas fire at a Connecticut home that took the lives of five family members started with fireplace embers that were dumped in a bucket in either a mud room attached to the house or a trash area next to the mud room, according to the Stamford Fire Department. It was not clear whether the house, which was under renovation, had working smoke detectors.
