Freudenberg expands its Chemical Specialties business Acquisition of SurTec and its production plant in India |

Freudenberg Chemical Specialties, a Freudenberg Business Group, expands its chemical business operations in India by acquiring SurTec International GmbH, a surface technology company. SurTec has a prominent presence in India, with its own production facility at Pune employing 25 associates. The acquisition is part of the Group's strategy of systematically developing its Chemical Specialties business. "The acquisition of SurTec enables Freudenberg to keep its promise and become one of the top family-owned businesses in the world by expanding its operations to new areas and merging various companies under one roof", said Dr. Jörg Matthias Großmann, Regional Representative of Freudenberg Group in India and CFO of Freudenberg Chemical Specialties.
SurTec develops, produces and markets chemical products and processes for industrial cleaning, the pre-treatment, processing and post-treatment of metal surfaces, plastic galvanizing and aluminum anodizing. SurTec products and solutions for surface treatment and galvanizing supplement the existing product portfolio of Freudenberg Chemical Specialties.
Commenting on the acquisition, Dr. Großmann said, "With SurTec we intend to further develop our Chemical Specialties portfolio and to expand the range of surface technology products offered to our customers. This acquisition will lay the foundations for the development of a further business segment in addition to special lubricants and release agents."

With SurTec, Freudenberg intends to expand and strengthen the Freudenberg Chemical Specialties Business Group. As with all other subsidiaries, SurTec will operate as an independent company within the Business Group. SurTec has a workforce of approximately 500 employees with presence in 40 countries on all five continents. SurTec's surface treatment and electroplating products and solutions represent a meaningful addition to the present portfolio of the Freudenberg Chemical Specialties Business Group.
