Issued in March 2022, the Waste Minimization (Plastic and Related Products) Regulations 2022 prohibits a range of plastic-containing products:
• Single-use plastic drink stirrers
• Single-use plastic or synthetic cotton buds
• Products containing plastic with pro-degradants
• PVC food trays and containers
• Specified polystyrene packaging for food and drink

Under the terms of the law, plastic is defined as any plastic material that is produced from any source, including bio-based sources, whether or not it is designed to degrade in a particular manner.
