SGS Explains Latest Delay to Brazil’s Compliance Date for Pacifier Conformity Identification Seals |

SGS published SafeGuardS looking at Brazil’s latest extension to the compliance date for pacifier conformity identification seals. |

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 107.23 to keep stakeholders informed about the latest developments affecting Brazil’s conformity assessment requirements for pacifiers.
Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services/National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology published an amendment to
Ordinance No. 301/2021, which was originally published in 2021, on August 9, 2023.
This ordinance contains multiple provisions relating to pacifiers, including requirements for:
• Conformity assessment
• Product certification bodies
• Certification models
• Certificates of conformity (CoC)
• Specifications for the conformity identification seal
Adoption of the conformity identification seal was later moved from December 2021 to December 2022. The amendment of August 9, 2023, further delays its adoption until June 30, 2024.
Stakeholders are advised to make sure they stay up to date with the latest developments impacting children’s products being marketed in Brazil.
