SGS summarizes Ukrainian consultation over proposed law on chemical management |

SGS publishes SafeGuardS to help businesses stay ahead of proposed changes to Ukraine’s rules for chemical management. |

SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published a SafeGuardS detailing Ukraine’s consultation over a proposed new law for the management of chemicals.
The proposed technical regulation is based upon the European Union’s REACH regulation – Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 ‘Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals’. It has not, however, adopted all EU requirements. For example, the requirements for formaldehyde emission from articles under entry 77 to Annex XVII of REACH.
SGS has published SafeGuardS 123.23 to give stakeholders a better understanding of the provisions in Ukraine’s draft resolution, possible dates of applicability and entry into force, and areas where Ukrainian legislation may differ from EU regulations.
Stakeholders are advised to review SGS’s original SafeGuardS 123.23 for more information.
The draft resolution was circulated by the World Trade Organization (WTO) on September 20, 2023.
